Song & Santcutary Presents: The Life Cycle of A Song

Song and Sanctuary Presents: The Life Cycle of a Song, a three part, virtual songwriting workshop hosted by Nan Macmillan and Naomi Westwater. We will explore the process of creating a song step by step, from the emergence of an idea to the full-fledged, blast it on your speakers tune.

In September, “Workshop I: Story” focuses on world building, on reaching deeply into a theme, in order to develop the song’s backdrop.

In October, “Workshop II: Lyric” delves into the lyrical realm of the song, finding the right words to express the story generated in the first workshop.

And in November, in “Workshop III: Song”, we will add in the music, exploring how to design chords and melody to support the emotional quality of the lyrics written in Workshop II. At the end of this series, participants will leave with a fully developed song, and new tools to use at each stage of the songwriting process.

Participants are welcome to come to the whole series, or pick and choose workshops they would like to attend.
